Die Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik presents Hänsel und Gretel
Students in the Theater Workshop perform a play entirely in German at the end of the Sommerschule for the public. This year, Professor Kathleen Moriarty will direct students in a production of Engelbert Humperdinck's 1893 Märchenoper Hänsel und Gretel. This classic fairy tale complements the theme of Im Walde and the libretto and accompanying music allow students access to the linguistic potential of the fairy tale and its relevance in culture and the history of German opera.
The performance is free and open to the public.
Emma Cowell serves as the accompanist in this production.
